Assam Logs 844 New Cases of COVID-19 in last 24 hours

Guwahati: A total of 844 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Assam on Thursday (January 6).

Among the new cases, the highest number of cases were reported from Kamrup Metro (369), Jorhat (57), Kamrup Rural (52) and Darrang (50).

The new cases were detected out of 35,562 tests that were conducted during the day.

The test positivity rate in the state was recorded at 2.37% per cent on Thursday.

Meanwhile, two new COVID-19 related death were reported in the state during the day.

According to NHM Assam, the fresh fatalities were reported from Bongaigaon and Dima Hasao.

Further, 132 patients recovered on January 6. The COVID-19 recovery rate in the state stands at 98.36 per cent.

Earlier on Wednesday (January 5), 591 COVID-19 cases were reported in the state including 279 cases from Kamrup Metro district. The test positivity rate in the state was recorded at 1.72% on Wednesday.

In the last 10 days, Kamrup Metro district has reported 1,393 new COVID-19 cases.

According to data released by NHM, Assam on 6th January, 6,23,332 COVID-19 cases have been reported in the State so far. Out of which, 6,13,120 patients have recovered, while 6,176 patients passed away.

The total number of active cases in the state now stands at 2,689.

Over 2.68 crore COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the state so far.

As many as 3,84,92,526 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Assam so far. This includes 2,23,04,230 persons administered with the first dose and 1,61,88,296 administered both doses of the vaccine.
