Assam logs 120 new COVID-19 cases, 2 deaths


Guwahati: A total of 120 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Assam on Tuesday (December 28).

Among the new cases, the highest number of cases were reported from Kamrup Metro (55), Sonitpur (8), Bongaigaon (7) and Cachar (7).

The new cases were detected out of 31,517 tests that were conducted during the day.

The test positivity rate in the state was recorded at 0.38% per cent on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, two new COVID-19 related death were reported in the state during the day.

According to the National Health Mission (NHM) Assam, the fresh fatalities were reported from Cachar (1) and Dibrugarh (1).

Further, 68 patients recovered on December 28. The COVID-19 recovery rate in the state stands at 98.66 per cent.

Earlier on Monday (December 27), 103 COVID-19 cases were reported in the state including 51 cases from Kamrup Metro district.

In the last 10 days, Kamrup Metro district has reported 505 new COVID-19 cases.

According to data released by NHM, Assam on 28th December, 6,20,357 COVID-19 cases have been reported in the State so far. Out of which, 6,12,059 patients have recovered, while 6,160 patients passed away.

The total number of active cases in the state now stands at 791.

Over 2.65 crore COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the state so far.

As many as 3,72,56,031 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Assam so far. This includes 2,17,14,554 persons administered with the first dose and 1,55,41,477 administered both doses of the vaccine.
