GUWAHATI: The last rites of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) inspector Dilip Kumar Das was performed at his native village in Sarupeta under Barpeta district of Assam on Tuesday. Das was killed by Maoist extremists in a deadliest encounter in Chhattisgarh on Saturday.
The family members and the villagers bid tearful adieu to Das as his mortal remains were consigned to flames. People gathered in large numbers to pay their homage to the CRPF officer.
CRPF and Assam Police officials also paid rich tributes to the braveheart.

On Monday, another Assam son—Bablu Rabha, who had been martyred in the same attack was laid to rest at his native village in Dudhnoi under Goalpara district.
In one of the deadliest Maoist attacks on the security forces, at least 22 CRPF men have lost their lives in Chhattisgarh‘s Bijapur Naxal attack on Saturday.
“22 security personnel have lost their lives in the Naxal attack at Sukma-Bijapur in Chhattisgarh,” said Bijapur Superintendent of Police, Kamalochan Kashyap.
