GUWAHATI: Though majority of COVID-19 positive cases in Assam have been reported from quarantine centres, a man from Karimganj district was detected with COVID-19 during community surveillance.

Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma informed media persons that the man has travel history to Meghalaya.

“He was not in quarantine. Because normally we did not quarantine the people who had come from Northeastern States. We detected him in community surveillance,” said health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.

He said that the man was suffering from fever and was detected during routine check-up.

“Except that single case, all the recent COVID-19 cases in Assam have been reported from quarantine centres,” Dr. Sarma added.
