In a tragic incident, as many as for people were assaulted by an angry mob on suspicion of involved in cattle smuggling in Assam’s Nalbari district on Tuesday morning.
According to reports, the angry mob were suspicious of the four smuggling cattle after several incidents of cattle thefts took place in the region.
The horrific incident unfolded in Nalbari’s Dokoha village which is located in the Barbhag subdivision where four persons were beaten up on suspicion of cattle thieves leaving them grievously injured.
Also, the mob torched a Swift Dzire vehicle which belonged to one of the victims who was injured by the mob.
The police reached the spot and rescued the four in a serious condition. All the four have been admitted to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital.
A probe has been initiated by Assam Police into the incident.
It needs mention that one of the injured persons is said to be from Katpuhar and the other three are from Raimadhar, also located in the Barbhag subdivision.
