Assam: Homeguard hacked to death in Chirang

GUWAHATI: An Assam Police Homeguard on duty at Bijni Police Station, Chirang was murdered by unknown assailants on Tuesday evening.

A resident of Dokhin Kasdoha, the jawan, Wahed Ali (35) was returning home after completing his duty when unknown assailants attacked him with sharp weapons. He was found dead by locals who reported to the police. The body of the deceased was then sent for post mortem.

Chirang Superintendent of Police Gaurav Upadhyay, ASP Prakash Medhi and SDPO Sekharjyoti Roy immediately rushed to the spot and intensified the search operations to nab the perpetrators.

“One of our home-guards deployed at Bijni Police Station was found dead. All our top officials immediately came to this location. From the primary investigation it seems that there is some family dispute and we are investigating on those lines. Also, we will look at other angles and bring this to a logical conclusion,” said Gaurav Upadhyay.
