Assam: Himanta Biswa Sarma slams new parties, says their politics limited to TV and press clubs

Guwahati:  Assam Health, Finance, and Education Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma sharply criticized the new political parties that have made their debut in the state politics in the wake of the forthcoming state assembly elections. Dr. Sarma, who was in Jorhat the other day for a function, slammed the newly-formed political parties as nothing but a mere joke in the name of politics. The newly-formed parties are just making a mockery out of everything.

Dr. Sarma added, “Politics should be done at the booths, politics should be done at the assembly. Their politics is just tied to TV talk shows and press clubs. They have to form 23 thousand booth committees.  But how many thousands of booth committees have been formed?”

Dr. Sarma also slammed Assam Pradesh Congress Committee President Ripun Bora comparing him with the newly-formed parties.

“A few days back, Bora went on saying that he will provide land pattas to illegal migrants and their names will also be on the NRC list. What kind of Assamese is he? He wants a Miya museum in the Kalakshetra with Miya public school in Assam. If this is the definition of existence, then there is no point talking about it,” added Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.
