GUWAHATI, Nov 22: The Assam government’s move to revise user charges and service fees associated with various services offered through the Assam Police Citizens Service Portal, known as ‘Assam Police SewaSetu’ has evoked mixed response. While some people have welcomed the notification issued by the government, the announcement has come in for sharp criticism from sections of the citizens as well as from Opposition parties.
While as many as citizen services, including registration of e-complaint and e-FIRs, public and service grievance redressal, permission/NOC for religious events have not been included under the new service fee structure, people will have to pay service fees to obtain permission for a number of other services.
According to the notice, organizers of cultural processions, cultural events, Bihu, meetings and conferences will have to pay Rs 300 to get due permission/NOC for such events
One will also have to pay the Government Rs 2,000 for permission for political rallies, events and meetings, Rs 2,000 for permission for all types of sporting events, Rs 500 for permission for street plays, awareness rallies, events, Rs. 5000 for permission for trade fairs, food fairs.
On the other hand, one will have to pay Rs 50,000 in Guwahati to get permission for commercial construction and Rs 25,000 will have to be paid under the same head in other parts of the state
Rs 10,000 for permission of opening petrol pumps and gas agencies, fee of Rs 300 for private employment verification, fee of Rs 300 for verification of rented accommodation and PG and Rs 300 fee for verification of workers involved in construction have also been fixed by the government as service fee.
The taxes have to be paid by the Assam Police Sewa portal.
Meanwhile, Opposition parties have criticized the updated service fee structure, particularly the move to charge Rs 300 from organizers of Bihu programmes.
