GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday said that the state government would sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with North East Space Applications Centre (NESAC) for detailed surveillance of various aspects of the state.

“Assam government will sign an MoU with NESAC for utilising its services in detecting encroachments, predicting natural disasters, compiling epidemic data, etc,” said Sarma at a press meet in Guwahati.

On the other hand, speaking on gender parity status of Assam as released by the NITI Aayog, Sarma said  a request has been made to the Aayog to put forth a detailed discussion considering the status of women traditionally enjoying greater freedom in Assam.

“In view of Assam’s score in gender parity that missed the fact of women traditionally enjoying greater freedom in the state, a request has been made to NITI Aayog to put forth a detailed discussion concerning data related to the subject in the state,” Dr Sarma added.
