Assam Govt to provide interest-free loans to private hospitals for vaccine procurement

GUWAHATI: The Assam government will provide loans to the private hospitals to buy COVID-19 vaccines. The loans will be free from interests for three months, said health minister Keshab Mahanta on Friday.

“The government cannot buy 25 per cent vaccines of total stock. So we are providing loans to the private hospitals,” said Mahanta.

The health minister said the maximum period for the repayment of the interest-free loans is three months.

He said the decision has been taken to ramp up vaccination programme in the state.

“Those who can afford, can take vaccines at private hospitals,” minister Mahanta added.
