The Assam Government on Wednesday (April 12) decided to provide Rs 25,000 each to over 11,000 dancers, instrument players and master trainers involved in the mega Bihu performance to enter the Guinness Book of World Records.
This was informed by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday (April 12).
Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on Wednesday, CM Sarma also said that the Bihu dance performance for the Guinness Book of World Records at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati will be performed on Thursday (April 13) from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM.
However, the mega Bihu program at Sarusajai stadium will be held as per the scheduled time on April 14, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be present.
The grand Bihu dance performance has been organized in order to globally showcase the Bihu dance of Assam as a mascot of the cultural identity and life of the Assamese people.
This event would feature more than 11,000 performers/Bihu Artists in a single venue and would attempt two new Guinness World Records in the category of largest Bihu dance performance in the world in a single venue and another will be the largest dhulia (drummer) ensemble.
“The Guinness World Record attempt for the Bihu dance performance will be held on April 13 from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm and it will be certified on April 14 in the presence of PM Modi,” CM Sarma said.
The entry of people in Sarusajai Stadium will be free for all on April 13 and no pass is required for entry on April 13. However, entry inside the stadium on April 14 is open only for the invitees and persons carrying the government issued passes for the mega Bihu programme, CM Sarma informed.
