Assam govt to create 35,000 jobs for Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan teachers

PUBLISHED:

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced today a special recruitment drive under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) under which 35,000 teachers will come under the ambit of the state government.

Addressing the media during a cabinet briefing on June 27 in Nalbari, CM Sarma detailed the state’s initiative to fill 35,000 new positions exclusively for SSA teachers through this special recruitment effort.

The announcement comes amidst ongoing discussions regarding the regularization of existing SSA teacher positions. Previously, efforts were underway to formalize these jobs. The new recruitment drive invites applications not only for the newly created posts but also encourages existing SSA teachers seeking permanent positions to apply.

“We are committed to enhancing the quality of education across Assam,” Chief Minister Sarma said noting that the special recruitment drive aims to streamline the process of regularization within a timeline of 4 to 5 months. This proactive approach seeks to address long-standing concerns regarding job security and career prospects for SSA teachers in the state.
