GUWAHATI: In a revolutionary step to develop the educational scenario of the tea gardens in the state, the Assam government has undertaken a massive step to build 119 Model High Schools at the gardens across the state. Assam education and finance minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday laid the foundation stone of the Model High Schools at Sakomatha and Pratapgarh tea gardens in Biswanath district.
Speaking on the occasion, Sarma said that the Model High Schools would play a pivotal role in improving the educational scenario of the tea gardens.
“Not a single student from tea gardens should be deprived of higher education,” he said.

The minister also stated that construction of the schools would be completed by May next year.
The foundation stone of all the schools will be laid by Monday.
