Assam Govt plans to send doctors to 23 thousand villages for COVID-19 screening


GUWAHATI: The Assam Government is all set to take a new initiative of sending a team of doctors to 23 thousand revenue villages for symptomic screening of COVID-19. Assam health minister DFr. Himanta Biswa Sarma along with his deputy Pijush Hazarika had a video conference with the medical college principals, doctors and deputy commissioners (DCs) to discuss the new initiative. The new step will be taken in addition to the regular programme of Assam health department.

“With @Pijush_hazarika held a VC with all DCs, Medical College Principals & doctors to discuss a new initiative of sending a team of doctor to 23000 revenue villages for symptomic screening for #COVID in addition to our regular programmes,” Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma shared the information on Twitter.

On Tuesday Assam has reported 2 cases—both from western Assam. While one 16-year girl from Bongaigaon was detected with COVID-19, another person from Goalpara district was also found positive on the same day. Both of them are secondary contacts of Tablighi Jamaat attendees at Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi.
