GUWAHATI: The Assam Government will offer jobs to sportspersons who will win a medal at the national level. Also, those who had earlier represented Assam and won medals will be provided a monthly pension of Rs. 8000 that will be later increased to Rs. 10,000.
“Those winning medals at the Olympics and Commonwealth Games will definitely get jobs and now those representing Assam and winning gold, silver, bronze medals at National Levels will also be offered government jobs,” stated the chief minister.
This good news was announced by Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma at the state assembly, “Irrespective of the age, those who won medals at the national level in any sports will be given Sports Pension. Henceforth, those sportspersons who win medals at Olympic-recognised sports at the national level will be offered a job. This will create an environment for sports in Assam.”
“At one go, I will clear all Sports Pension till date of players who have won medals at the national level in Olympic recognised sports,” said Himanta Biswa Sarma.
