Assam Govt forms committee for provincialisation of schools, colleges in BTR

GUWAHATI: The secondary education department of the Assam government has constituted a committee for preparing the modalities for implementation of Clause 6, point 6.3 of the Bodo Accord signed on January 27 in 2020.

Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) chairman R. C Jain has been appointed as the chairman of the committee.

“The Committee will suggest measures to provincialise schools and colleges established in BTAD,” said in a notification issued by the secondary education department principal secretary B. kalyan Chakravarthy.

It will suggest measures to provincialise Bodo medium schools outside Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) as per special need and requirement.

“The Committee will examine the necessary amendments to be made in the present provincialisation Act so as to give a special preference to the schools in the Sixth Scheduled areas of the State. The Committee will examine the necessary amendements to be made in the present provincialisation Act so as to give a special preference to the Bodo medium schools outside the Sixth Scheduled areas of the State. The Committee will discuss the issue with the stakeholders and other Departments so as to find an acceptable solution for Provincialisation of academic Institutions,” stated the notification.
