Attending the 23rd convocation of Dibrugarh University, Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya said institutions like Dibrugarh University must play an important role to elevate India’s global stature
GUWAHATI, March 12: Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya attended the 23rd convocation of Dibrugarh University and said that when India is making its rapid strides towards reaching its 100th years of independence, the country is making profound efforts in the Amrit Kaal to advance towards knowledge, research and innovation. Dibrugarh University being the second oldest university in the region should take the lead in promoting cutting edge research and innovation to facilitate seamless transition of the nation to Viksit Bharat.
Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya said that students are the chief architects of Viksit Bharat as they need to empower themselves through knowledge, research and innovation to the prime catalyst of developed India.
The Assam Governor said that the coming two decades for the nation demand hard work and dedication as the students should focus on their cherished dream and work with determination to ensure a brighter future for the country.
He said that the institutions like Dibrugarh University must play an important role to elevate India’s global stature in the coming days.
Referring to the ever-evolving technology which is shaping the future of the country, Governor Acharya said that with the advancement of technology, new employment opportunities are emerging. He said that the education system pursued by the universities should empower its students to use the technology to expedite the growth of the country.
He, in this context, reiterated the need to integrate traditional learning methods with modern technology for the benefit of the society.
He also said that Government of Assam, in keeping its vision for capacity building of its youth in tune with the latest technological advancement, is actively promoting skill-based education to enhance employability.
Stating about the key interventions made by the government for strengthening the education sector, Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya said that State Government has made certain key initiatives like establishing model schools for children of tea garden workers, revamping old educational institutions, massive infrastructure development in schools and universities and opening several medical colleges, polytechnic institutes, and ITI centers for skill development in the State.
Governor Acharya said that India is on the path of becoming the world’s third-largest economy. To achieve this, the country needs leaders who are not just technologically proficient but also possess a visionary approach and ethical values.
These leaders, he said, will drive the nation towards the goal of a “Developed India” by 2047.
Governor Acharya, on the occasion, called upon the graduates to lead various sectors such as technology, science, healthcare, and innovation with their skills and knowledge.
He also asked them to establish new industries, and tackle global challenges such as climate change, and digital transformation.
“The true measure of progress lies in the excellence of one’s actions. To uphold this principle and move forward with firm determination needs one’s will power and resilience. It is a matter of immense pride that our daughters, through perseverance, are earning degrees in record numbers—reflecting not only their invaluable contribution to nation-building but also the strength of India’s evolving vision,” Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya said congratulating the graduates.
It may be noted that the convocation entitles 10,648 students to receive degrees. The Governor on the occasion also presented D.Sc. Degree to Dr Jayanti Chutia, and honorary D. Litt. Degree to Nahendra Padun.
Chief Technology and Innovation Officer at California Health Agency, California, Dr. Rupam Sarmah, Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Jiten Hazarika, members of the Academic and Executive Council, Registrar and faculty members of different department, students and their guardians were present on the occasion.
