GUWAHATI: Golaghat district in Assam has recorded the highest COVID-19 cases in the State. So far the district has registered 126 cases.
On Tuesday, 54 persons from Golaghat were found positive for COVID-19. All of them returned from Chennai by Shramik Special Train. Around 300 passengers deboarded the train at Mariani on May 23.
According to the information, 150 passengers of the particular Shramik Express tested positive for COVID-19. So far Assam has recorded 682 cases, majority of which are of the returnees from other States. On the other hand, most of the cases have been reported from the quarantine centres.
The Assam Government has already advocated for ruthless quarantine policy but with a human heart. Massive surveillance programme has also been launched across the State.
