GUWAHATI: Ajanta Neog has been allocated the finance department in Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma-led cabinet in Assam.
Neog, MLA from Golaghat is the first woman to head the finance department of the state. Like Nirmala Sitharaman at the centre, Ajanta Neog will look after the finance of Assam.
An influential minister in the earlier Tarun Gogoi-led Congress governments, Neog had left the party to join the BJP last year.
She will also hold the portfolio of social welfare.
