Assam fulfils long-standing demands of home guards, hike daily allowances from 300 to 767

The Assam government on Wednesday (October 19) increased the daily duty allowance of home guards from Rs 300 to Rs 767.

The hike will come into effect immediately.

Following the hike, the monthly salary of around 24,000 home guard in Assam will be Rs 23,010.

An official notification issued by Home and Political Department of Assam Government stated, “The Governor of Assam is pleased to enhance the duty allowances of Home Guards from the existing rate (Rs 300 per day per head for Basic Trained Home Guards and Rs 315 per day per head for Advance Home Guards) to Rs 767 per day per head with effect from the date of issue of this notification.”

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet wrote, “A key arm of Assam Police, Home Guards play a crucial role in maintaining law and order. Fulfilling the long-standing demand of around 24,000 home guards, we’ve approved enhancement of their daily wages to Rs 767 from the existing Rs 300, thus increasing their monthly wages to Rs 23,010.”
