Assam floods: CM Dr Sarma while interacting with flood-hit villagers of Lakhimpur, assured people all-possible help and support.
As the situation arising out of Assam floods remains grim, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday (June 2) air-dashed to flood-hit Lakhimpur district and interacted with marooned people while assuring them all-possible help and support.
Chief Minister Dr Sarma also met with officials of NEEPCO and NHPC, asking them to release dam water in phases besides stressing the need for early alerts and close coordination with district administration officials while releasing excess water from the dams.
“Today in Lakhimpur , I instructed officials to adhere to existing SoPs while releasing water downstream. Abrupt and ad hoc release of water has exacerbated the flood situation,” he stated in a post on ‘X’, formerly Twitter.
Chief Minister Dr Sarma visited Amtola falling under Naoboicha LAC, making an on-the-spot assessment of the situation as he took note of their concerns while assuring them that the government will extend necessary support and assistance to them in their hour of crisis.
“With our people, always! In Lakhimpur’s Amtola, floods have wrecked havoc due to heavy upstream rainfall. Our Administration is working tirelessly to provide relief to the people and once the situation normalises we will promptly rehabilitate their losses,” Chief Minister Dr Sarma wrote on ‘X’.
