The central government has released Rs 251.55 crore grants-in-aid to Assam to deal with the situation arising out of the devastating floods in the State.
The amount was release by the Finance Ministry towards central share of SDRF for 2019-20 that will be used to provide immediate relief to people hit by floods in Assam.
Meanwhile, Assam Finance and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to twitter to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for the prompt release of central funds.

Meanwhile, Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat who visited flood-ravaged areas of Majuli earlier in the day, said the central government was committed to providing all possible help and assistance to the State Government in mitigating the deluge.
Prime Minister Modi had also spoken to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday and assured all possible assistance from the Centre.
