Guwahati: Nearly 27 lakh people of 25 out of 33 districts in Assam have been affected due to severe floods.
In Kaziranga National Park, 123 wild animals, including 12 rhinos, have also died due to flood. The dead include 93 deers, four wild buffaloes, and others.
Following incessant rains in the past few days, the water level of Brahmaputra river and its tributaries have been increasing, turning the current flood situation in Assam worse.
In Guwahati, the water level of Brahmaputra river has crossed the danger level mark by 49.68 metres and is gradually increasing.
Apart from Guwahati, the water level of Brahmaputra river is flowing above the danger level at Dibrugarh, Neamatighat in Jorhat district, Tezpur in Sonitpur district, Goalpara and Dhubri district.
According to the Assam State Disaster Management (ASDMA) authority, the water level of Dhansiri river is also flowing above danger level at Numaligarh in Golaghat district, Jia Bharali at NT Road crossing in Sonitpur district, Kopili at Kampur, Dharamtul in Nagaon district, Beki at Road Bridge crossing in Barpeta district, Gaurang at Kokrajhar, Kushiyara river at Karimganj and Sankosh river at Golakganj in Dhubri district.
