Assam: Fixed deposit of over Rs 7 lakh to each COVID-19 orphan

GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday handed over cheques to the children who lost both their parents to COVID-19.

Chief minister Sarma provided the montly financial aid of Rs 3,500 to the children under the Mukhyamantri Sishu Sewa Achoni scheme.

Dr Sarma stated that all the 11 children have been provided a fixed deposit policy of Rs 7 lakh, 81 thousand and two hundred.

“Based on this fixed deposit, they will get  Rs 3,500 monthly till they attain the age of 24,” the chief minister said.

“Since all the applicants are with their extended family, so there is no question of sending these children to residential schools,” added Dr Sarma.
