Assam: Families of Tablighi Jamaat attendees quarantined at Sarusajai

GUWAHATI: Family members of the people from Assam who had attended the Tablighi Jamaat at Nizamuddin Markaz have been urgently quarantined at Sarusajai Sports Complex in Guwahati on Thursday night.

Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma was present at Sarusajai to ward off any fear among the people who have been put under quarantine. He was accompanied by minister of state for health and family welfare Pijush Hazarika.

“We have quarantined the people who came in touch with the four Coronavirus patients from Morigaon and one from Nalbari. We will collect their swab tomorrow morning,” said Dr. Sarma

“Family members of attendees of #TablighiJamaat congregation at #NizamuddinMarkaz need to be urgently quarantined. We brought them to Sarusojai Sports Complex and I was personally present to ward off any fear among them. To fight #COVID19Pandemic important to quarantine them,” Dr. Sarma stated in a Tweet.

On the other hand, minister Pijush Hazarika said, “The patient from Nalbari was staying at a mosque. So 45 people are being taken to Sarusajai from Nalbari. I think around 70 people will be quarantined here tonight.”

Sarusajai Sports Complex in Guwahati has been converted into a quarantine facility recently to bolster the fight against Covid-19.
