Assam elections: AGP-BJP to announce candidates in March first week

GUWAHATI: The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance is likely to publish the list of candidates for Assam assembly elections in the first week of March.

Talking to media persons at Pathsala, Assam state BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass said that the final list will be declared following an important meeting in the first week of March.

Dass clarified that the sharing of seats among BJP’s alliance partners will be discussed at the national level.

He also claimed that the saffron party is completely ready for the elections.

Assam will go for polls in three phases on March 27, April 1 and April 6. The first phase will be held in 47 constituencies comprising of 12 districts. The second phase will be in 39 constituencies comprising of 13 districts. The third phase will include 40 constituencies of of 12 districts.

The counting will be held on May 2.
