Assam: Each family affected by COVID19 death to receive Rs. 1 lakh

GUWAHATI: The Assam Government will provide Rs. 1 lakh to those families who have reported COVID19 deaths. This was stated by Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday. The state is already providing Rs. 2.5 lakh to widows whose husbands succumbed to the virus. Talking to reporters in Guwahati, CM Sarma said that the government will have to provide the amount to around 4000 families in Assam.

“We will provide rupees one lakh to the next of kin of the person who died due to COVID19. This is for everyone. It will be in the third phase. The first scheme is for the COVID19 widows and there is the rupees eight lakh fixed deposit for children losing their parents. The third one is the one lakh we are providing. The scheme will be inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah,” said Himanta Biswa Sarma.

It is to be noted that Amit Shah is likely to visit Assam on 25th of July.
