Assam: CRPF assistant sub-inspector from Kamalpur shoots himself to death


Guwahati:  A CRPF personnel reportedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle. The deceased Jawan has been identified as Jadav Deka.

Deka was a resident of Dwigunpar under Kamalpur Police Station. He was serving as an Assistant Sub-Inspector of the CRPF No. 71 in Tripura.

The incident happened at Radhanagar camp in Khumulwng, headquarters of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), on Thursday afternoon.

According to Tripura Police, jawans in the camp heard a gunshot and rushed to Deka’s room. He was found lying in a pool of blood. The critically wounded jawan was taken to GB Hospital where he was declared brought dead.

After the post-mortem, the CRPF coordinated with Kamalpur Police Station and handed Deka’s body to his family members at the Dwigunpar residence. Later his body was cremated with full rites. A funeral procession was held in the presence of a large number of mourners. Deka was also involved in various social activities with various NGOs and other social organisations. His death was mourned in the entire area.

Though the post-mortem suggests that Jadav Deka committed suicide but his family members and neighbours aren’t satisfied with the report. The people have raised questions on the investigation.
