GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will inaugurate the COVID-19 vaccination drive today (Saturday) at Assam Medical College(AMC), Dibrugarh and Assam Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma will inaugurate the vaccination drive at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital(GMCH) in Guwahati.
The programme will be inaugurated at 10:30 AM across all 65 centres across Assam. COVISHIELD vaccine will be administered at 59 centres and COVAXIN at 6 centres across the state.
A total of 2.09 lakh people will be vaccinated in the first stage. At first, 1.09 lakh people will get the vaccine followed by 1 more lakh.
During a press meet on Friday Assam Health Minister said that It is not mandatory for all health workers and doctors to take the vaccine. But we will encourage the doctors and health workers and frontline workers associated with COVID-19 duty to take the vaccine.
