Guwahati: Assam’s COVID-19 tally rose to 5,19,834 on Monday as 2,640 more people tested positive for the infection while 31 new fatalities pushed the death toll to 4,683 the National Health Mission bulletin said.
Golaghat reported the highest number of new cases at 333, followed by Sonitpur (233), Kamrup Metro(197), and Jorhat(151).
The current death rate is 0.90 per cent and the number of COVID-19 positive patients dying due to other causes is 1,347. The new coronavirus cases were detected out of testing of 1,16,542 samples on Monday and the positivity rate for the day was 2.27 per cent.
Assam currently has 22,243 active COVID-19 cases.
The number of COVID-19 patients discharged during the day is 2,521 and altogether 4,91,561 people have recovered from the infection so far with the recovery rate being 94.56 per cent.
