Guwahati: Assam’s COVID-19 tally rose to 5,22,267 on Tuesday as 2,433 more people tested positive for the infection while 34 new fatalities pushed the death toll to 4,717 the National Health Mission bulletin said.
Golaghat reported the highest number of new cases at 270, followed by Jorhat (246), Sonitpur (229), and Kamrup Metro (203).
The current death rate is 0.90 per cent and the number of COVID-19 positive patients dying due to other causes is 1,347. The new coronavirus cases were detected out of testing of 1,00,262 samples on Tuesday and the positivity rate for the day was 2.43 per cent.
Assam currently has 22,897 active COVID-19 cases.
The number of COVID-19 patients discharged during the day is 1,745 and altogether 4,93,306 people have recovered from the infection so far with the recovery rate being 94.45 per cent.
