Guwahati: Assam’s COVID-19 tally rose to 5,17,194 on Sunday as 1,213 more people tested positive for the infection while 20 new fatalities pushed the death toll to 4,650 the National Health Mission bulletin said.
Kamrup Metro reported the highest number of new cases at 140, followed by Golaghat (114), Sonitpur (96), and Dibrugarh(83).

The current death rate is 0.90 per cent and the number of COVID-19 positive patients dying due to other causes is 1,347. The new coronavirus cases were detected out of testing of 53,848 samples on Sunday and the positivity rate for the day was 2.25 per cent.
Assam currently has 22,155 active COVID-19 cases.
The number of COVID-19 patients discharged during the day is 2,775 and altogether 4,89,040 people have recovered from the infection so far with the recovery rate being 94.56 per cent.
