Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday visited the residences of Jnanpith awardee poet Nilmani Phookan and former principal of Cotton College Kamalendu Deb Krori.
CM Sarma visited the residence of poet Nilmani Phookan, who was conferred with the Jnanpith award to congratulate him.
He tweeted about it in Assamese, writing, “জ্ঞানপীঠ বঁটা’ৰে সন্মানিত ‘কাব্যঋষি’ শ্ৰীনীলমণি ফুকনদেৱক তেখেতৰ গুৱাহাটীস্থিত বাসভৱনত সাক্ষাৎ কৰি অভিনন্দন জ্ঞাপন কৰোঁ। শ্ৰদ্ধেয় ফুকন ছাৰৰ পৰ্বতসম অৱদানে অসমীয়া ভাষা আৰু সাহিত্যৰ জগতখনক সদা গৌৰৱান্বিত কৰিব। তেখেতৰ সুস্বাস্থ্য আৰু দীৰ্ঘায়ু কামনাৰে ভগৱানৰ ওচৰত প্ৰাৰ্থনা জনালোঁ৷”

He tweeted about his visit, saying, “Visited the residence of eminent physicist & former Principal of Cotton College Shri Kamalendu Deb Krori in Guwahati. Assam Govt recently conferred Assam Sourav Award on him for his contributions in academics & scientific research. I pray for a healthy & long life for him”.
