Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday launched Chief Minister’s Institutional Plantation Programme (CMIPP) by planting a sapling at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati.
According to reports, CMIPP will be run from July 17- August 15, 2022, by the Science, Technology and Climate Change Department covering more than 80,000 institutional campuses under Assam Government.
During the launch, CM Sarma urged all institutions to plant 75 saplings (Amrit Briksha) coinciding with ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and transforming CMIPP into ‘Amrit Briksha Mahotsav’.
Meanwhile, taking to Twitter, CM Sarma said, “Under CMIPP, native saplings will be planted, geotagged & uploaded on web portal followed by proper care & monitoring for next 3 years.”
