Assam CM names state zoo’s giraffe calf ‘Parijat’

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed the name of the recently born giraffe in the state zoo, announcing it as ‘Parijat.’ The naming process involved over 350 suggestions and the final choice was determined through a lucky draw.

The giraffe calf faced challenges in its early days, as its mother rejected it shortly after birth. Wildlife specialists from Mumbai, along with zoo authorities, played a crucial role in caring for and nurturing the infant giraffe.

Chief Minister Sarma shared the news on the ‘X’ platform, expressing delight at the new addition to the zoo.

The Chief Minister alsos announced an impressive budget of Rs 350 crore as the state government plans to comprehensively develop the zoo.
