Guwahati: Fulfilling his election promise, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday launched microfinance loan waiver scheme at Collegiate HS School in Tezpur.
The Assam Microfinance Incentive and Relief Scheme (AMFIRS), 2021, which promises financial relief to borrowers in Assam who have been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic, was formally inaugurated by the Chief Minister.
Taking to Twitter CM Sarma wrote, “Honoured to launch the Assam Micro Finance Incentive & Relief Scheme, 2021, at Collegiate HS School, Tezpur. Of the total 24 lakh woman beneficiaries including 59,468 women in Sonitpur district, each will get Rs 16,000 – Rs 25,000.”

Along with the CM, state finance minister Ajanta Neog, minister of water resources Pijush Hazarika along with other ministers were present for the special inauguration program.
Around 59,468 women from Sonitpur district would benefit from the loan waiver program.
