Assam: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma extends greetings on Rongali Bihu

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Saram on Thursday extended his greetings to the people of Assam on the occasion of Rongali Bihu and Assamese New Year.

Conveying his warm greetings on the joyous occasion of Rongali Bihu, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma stated that Rongali Bihu brings new hope and possibility, which also reinforces our age-old bond of unity and camaraderie. He wished the people on this occasion and hoped that Bihu festivities give a new impetus to peace, progress and prosperity among all sections of people in the state. He also urged the people to take a pledge on this occasion to commit themselves for the welfare of all and the overall development of the state.

CM Sarma also inaugurated the Guwahati Bihu Sanmilani at Latasil playground.

The chief minister inaugurated the Bihu festival by hoisting a flag.

While attending the Bihu Sanmilani CM Sarma stated “Rongali Bihu is the life of Assamese. Bihu carries our national heritage. I urge the people of Assam to live with unity and harmony.”

“We will move forward by keeping behind the divisions in mind. We will work for the good of the nation avoiding petty interests. We will have to keep in tact the traditions of Bihu,” said CM Sarma.

CM Sarma further stated that the traditions of Rongali Bihu must be carried out in future too.
