Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today virtually flagged off the first consignment of nano urea, developed by Indian Farmers’ Fertilizers Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) through a VC held at CMO today.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM termed this initiative of IFFCO as ‘Game Changer’ in the history of modern agriculture across the globe because of its many positive benefits. He congratulates IFFCO on its innovative endeavour and hopes that in the future also it continues its impressive performance to bring about a paradigm shift in the agriculture sector.
CM Sarma urged IFFCO to come forward for setting up a Nano Urea plant in the state. He also asked them to look after the issue of fertilizer shortages in the state and to take initiative for streamlining the fertilizer distribution channels for the smooth and timely supply of urea and other fertilizers to the farmers of the state.
Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, Industry Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, Political Secretary to CM Jayanta Malla Baruah; BS Nakai, Chairman, IFFCO; Dr. U.S. Awasthi, MD, IFFCO; Dilip Sanghani, Vice Chairman, IFFCO & Ajit Bhattacharyya, State marketing Manager, IFFCO (NE) were also present in the virtual flag-off ceremony.

IFFCO can play a major role in boosting agriculture. I urge it to set up a nano urea plant in Assam & look into fertiliser shortage issue, besides taking initiatives to streamline fertiliser distribution for smooth & timely supply of urea & other fertilisers to our farmers.
