Assam CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma visited relief camps and interacted with camp inmates

Assam CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma today (June 3) visited flood-hit Cachar district a day after touring deluge-affected areas in Lakhimpur.

Chief Minister Dr Sarma inspected relief camps set up at Govt Boys HS School, Normal School, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Cosmic Market Malinibeel, Ukil Bazar LP School and Hiron Prova Dev Sishu Mandir and interacted with the affected residents.

During the interactions he had with relief camp inmates, he assured them that the government is taking all necessary steps to ease their hardships.

Chief Minister Dr Sarma also directed the district administration of Cachar to ensure emergency supply of essentials and medical aid.

He further assured timely assistance, rehabilitation and full support from the government to the sheltered people.

He also visited Tarapore Shibbari Road near the Barak River and inspected the sinking zones while discussing necessary remedial action with Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika who also accompanied Chief Minister Dr Sarma.

Chief Minister Sarma also addressed the media at Silchar DC office, and said that over 19,000 people affected by the floods are currently taking shelter in 90 relief camps in the district. He also said that relief materials are being arranged for those staying in their homes.

He further assured people of the district that embankments are under close monitoring and pumps are being used to evacuate excess water.

Chief Minister Dr Sarma said all-possible steps would be take to ameliorate their woes while assuring marooned people of standing besides them in these testing and tiring times.

Meanwhile several people donated generously to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund with over Rs 1 crore donated to the CM Relief Fund.
