Assam CM distributes scooters to meritorious students under Pragyan Bharati Scheme

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday kick-started the distribution of scooters to meritorious students who cleared the last higher secondary examinations at Veterinary College Field, Khanapara, Guwahati.

The scheme was implemented through the Dr Banikanta Kakati Merit Award, under the Pragya Bharti scheme, to a total of 35,770 beneficiaries.

To be eligible for the award, boys had to score a minimum of 75 per cent in the higher secondary examinations conducted by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council, while that for girls was 60 per cent.

Speaking at the event CM Sarma said, “I urge all to create a personality inculcating a free spirit with thinking that can bring in a positive change in the society. One shouldn’t forget the freedom provided by their parents. I urge all the students not to forget their aim. Because if one forgets its target then their life turns incomplete”.

CM Sarma added that the age group between 18-25 is a sensitive period where students usually get diverted or distracted from their path. One should maintain a good friendship and be in the company of good people who does not force them to get diverted from their aim.

Taking to X formerly known as Twitter CM Sarma wrote, “My tenure as Education Minister taught me that rewarding academic excellence should be the corner stone of an inclusive education policy. The 35,770 scooties distributed by our govt today to outstanding students stands as a profound symbol of recognition to merit and hard”
