Guwahati: Fulfilling his election promise, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday launched the second phase of Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday launched the second phase of microfinance loan waiver scheme in Biswanath and Dhemaji. scheme in Biswanath and Dhemaji.
The Assam Microfinance Incentive and Relief Scheme (AMFIRS), 2021, which promises financial relief to borrowers in Assam who have been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic, was formally inaugurated by the Chief Minister.
Taking to Twitter Chief Minister Sarma wrote, “Continuing on our promise of microfinance loan waiver to women beneficiaries, glad to have rolled out 2nd phase of Assam Micro Finance Institutions Relief Scheme for regular payer beneficiaries today. Handed over cheques to 5024 beneficiaries of Gohpur, Behali, Sootea & Biswanath.”

Total 12590 beneficiaries will get cheques in Biswanath. Chief Minister Sarma also stated that an Engineering College at Behali and a Medical College at Gohpur will soon be established.
The Assam Government is also proposing a ropeway project at Biswanath Ghat, which is expected to get completed by 2022, added Chief Minister Sarma.
