Assam CM dedicates 80 ICU beds at Silchar Medical College and Hospital at Cachar district

Assam Chief Minister Dr.  Himanta Biswa Sarma dedicated 80 ICU beds, including 40 paediatric beds, at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) in Cachar district on Saturday.

During his two-day visit to the Barak valley, the Assam chief minister also took stock of the progress of the construction work of the 500-bedded hospital at the SMCH premises.

Taking to his Twitter CM Sarma wrote, “Inspected construction of 500-bed hospital at SMCH & inaugurated 80 ICU beds (including 40 for pediatric), taking total ICU beds to 180. Cancer hospital and a regional forensic lab also in the pipeline. All this will bolster healthcare infrastructure for people in Barak Valley.”

CM Sarma said that the state government, as per its commitment to make health care services more advanced, accessible and accountable, brought about “massive infrastructural development of the health facilities”. 

The Assam Chief Minister also said that approval has already been granted for setting up of a Regional Forensic Laboratory at Silchar.
