GUWAHATI: Addressing a press conference on the occasion of completion of one year of his government, Assam chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a welfare scheme for the widows who lost their husbands to COVID-19.
Sarma said each widow will get a one-time financial assistance of Rs 2.5 lakh.
“We have decided to give a one-time assistance of Rs 2.5 lakh under CM Relief Fund to the widows who lost their husbands to COVID-19. Besides that, all the widows will be eligible for Orunodoi scheme and widow pension. So the package will be Rs 830 per month from Orunodoi, 3 hundred from widow pension, plus 2.5 lakh as one-time assistance,” added Dr Sarma.
