The Assam Civilian Awards were instituted by the Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma-led State Government since 2021
GUWAHATI, April 3: The Assam Civilian Awards were presented at a function in Guwahati today (April 3). Lt Gen (Retd) Rana Pratap Kalita was conferred with Assam’s highest civilian award — Assam Baibhav — for 2024 while six recipients, including former Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) CEO and MD Subramanian Ramadorai and eminent singer Dwipen Barua, were conferred Assam Saurav award, the second highest civilian award.
Thirteen eminent personalities and three institutions were conferred with the Assam Gaurav award, the third highest civilian award.
The awards were presented by Governor Acharya at a function at the Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra in the presence of Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and other invited guests.
Cricketer Uma Chetry could not attend the awards ceremony. Her award will be presented to her by the Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat later.
The State civilian awards Assam Baibhav, Assam Saurav and Assam Gaurav were instituted by the Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and are conferred on eminent personalities for their contributions to the society.
