Assam: Cinema halls, swimming pools, gyms to remain shut from tomorrow


GUWAHATI: The Assam government has decided to shut all the cinema halls, swimming pools and gymnasiums from tomorrow, announced Assam chief secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna today.

Addressing a press meet in Guwahati, Sanjay Krishna said, “As a part of preventive measures to avoid Coronavirus outbreak, the Assam government has decided to close all the schools, colleges, universities, swimming pools, gymnasiums till March 29.”

The chief secretary of the Assam government also told media persons that more than 800 quarantine centres and 100 isolation wards have been set-up in the state.

“We have arranged around 50 ICU beds to deal with the situation,” he added.
