Assam: Car falls into river in Dhemaji, 3 missing


GUWAHATI: Three persons are still missing after a car fell into a river at Sisiborgaon under Dhemaji district in Assam on Thursday.

According to reports, one Tankeswar Kalita along with his wife, two daughters and the driver were on their way from Lakhimpur to Silapathar in Dhemaji district in a private car.

The incident took place when the car fell into the river after it hit a bridge railing in Geluwa area.

Following the incident, locals rushed to the spot and some youths rescued Tankeswar Kalita’s wife Sarumai Kalita and daughter Babita Kalita.

However, Tankeswar Kalita, his another daughter and the driver are still missing.

The NDRF, SDRF teams, police and local administration are engaged in the rescue operations to trace the missing persons.
