Assam Cabinet Reshuffle: CM Sarma takes additional charge of health dept, Keshab Mahanta gets transport and excise

Assam Cabinet has been reshuffled after the Lok Sabha Elections, wherein former Minister Parimal Suklabaidya was elevated as a MP, vacating his state ministries.

With the re-arrangement of the Ministries, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has taken the Ministry of Health to him, again after years. He has served as the Health Minister for the longest time in Assam.

This department was headed by Keshab Mahanta previously – who has been now given additional responsibilities. He is now the Minister of Transport; Fisheries; Excise; Science and Technology & Information & Technology.

A full cabinet reshuffle is likely to take place again in next few weeks – considering the 2026 State Elections.
