Assam Bypolls: Rupjyoti Kurmi files nomination for Mariani

Guwahati: Former Congress leader and Mariani’s ex MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi filed his nomination on Friday for Mariani in a hope of to win from the same constituency as a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate at the  upcoming Assam assembly by-election slated on October 30.

Kurmi was  accompanied by Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma,  MoS Rameswar Teli, State Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, State Minister of Water Resources Pijush Hazarika and a few other ministers. 

Taking to the Twitter CM Sarma wrote, “Pleased to have joined @BJP4Assam candidate @RKurmiOfficial for his nomination filing for Mariani bye-election. MoS @Rameswar_Teli ; Mins @ATULBORA2, @Pijush_hazarika, @sanjoykishan1; MP @KamakhyaTasa; Dist BJP President Kamakhya Mohan Das were also present Best wishes (sic).”\

 

Rupjyoti Kurmi who represented Assam Legislative Assembly four times consecutively from Mariani LAC of Jorhat district as a member of Indian National Congress(INC) resigned recently from the party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) on June.
