GUWAHATI: The Bharatiya Janata Party will contest in four constituencies in the soon-to-be held bypolls in Assam. The saffron party will put up candidates from Majuli, Thowra, Moriani and Bhabanipur constituencies.
BJP’s alliance partner UPPL will put up its candidate from Tamulpur. On who will contest from Gossaigaon, the BJP and UPPL have to reach a consensus, and deliberations are on.
The Gossaigaon seat fell vacant after Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) MLA Majendra Narzary died due to post-COVID-19 complications in May this year.
Though the official announcement is yet to be made, it is almost confirmed that from Thowra, Sushanta Borgohain; from Mariani, Rupjyoti Kurmi; and from Bhabanipur, Phanidhar Talukdar will be given the BJP nomination.
