Guwahati: Assam Finance Minister (FM) Ajanta Neog on Thursday while presenting the budget 2023-2024, said that to create self-employment in the private sector, the state government will be implementing schemes to promote micro-entrepreneurs for creating self-employment opportunities among the unemployed youths belonging to BPL families and low-income households.
FM Neog said that under this scheme Trading, Manufacturing, Service, Food Processing, Handloom, Handicraft, Agriculture and allied- Animal Husbandry, Fishery and Dairy which have a catalytic effect in the creation of many will be supported.
State Finance Minister further proposed to cover one lakh eligible beneficiaries, who will be provided with a one-time Seed Capital of 2 lahks in tranches for starting micro-enterprise units in the next three years.
A total investment of ₹ 5000 crore will be made by the government over the next three years with an aim to provide jobs to two lakh youth.
FM said, “I am allocating 1000 crore in this budget.”
The government also proposed to cover other one lakh entrepreneur-youths who will be provided project-based subsidies in defined projects, targeting the MSME and other segments.
